Amelia Heights (WA)

Cub Scout Leader

One of our CSL’s ran through an exercise of counting how much water each Patrols families used, then comparing how many Olympic sized swimming pools their Patrols families used each year.

Results were between 0.9 to 2.25 Pools per Patrol.

The CSL then ran the aquifers demonstration, explaining how an aquifer works, how we draw water from the rocks underground and how pollution can impact the quality of water. Materials used included large plastic see-through cup, ice (the rocks), lemonade (the water), ice cream (the soil above the rocks), ‘hundreds & thousands’ (solid pollution), 2 drops of blue food dye (liquid pollution) and a straw (the water bore).

Apart from learning about Aquifers we also got to then enjoy the results.
